Yoga, Breath & Presence

The longer you practice, the clearer it becomes that yoga isn’t only about how a pose looks.
Breath, attention, and presence are part of the experience too.
You might do a few simple movements and suddenly notice how tight your shoulders are, how shallow your breath has been all day, or that you stayed present for a few minutes without jumping to the next task.
Those small notices can be a big part of yoga.
Why does breath matter so much?
Breath is the shortest path back to the body. When your mind is in the next meeting, deadline, or unread messages, following inhale and exhale can bring you here again.
In class, breath isn’t only a companion to movement — sometimes it is the practice. Pranayama and breath techniques can support calm, focus, and preparation — especially if you spend most of the day at a laptop.
What does presence mean?
Presence means stepping out of “just keep going” for a few minutes and noticing how your body, breath, and self actually feel.
You don’t need to be perfectly calm or flexible to belong in practice. You start where you are.
Yoga isn’t only exercise
That’s why, for me, yoga isn’t only exercise — it’s a chance, in a busy life, to come back to your body, breath, and yourself.
If you want to try that in class, start with yoga classes — in person in Tehran, or online from wherever you are.
